Festive Cooking Session Supporting Independence and Skill Building
Today was filled with laughter, learning, and delicious aromas as Samantha and Malcolm participated in a meaningful cooking session with the support of staff, aligned with their individual NDIS goals.
With guidance, encouragement, and teamwork, the kitchen became a space for learning and engagement as they prepared a variety of festive treats, including:
Mini quiches
Lamb and mint sausage rolls
Traditional Christmas spice biscuits
This hands-on activity supported the development of daily living and life skills, including meal preparation, kitchen safety, following instructions, and teamwork. Staff provided encouragement every step of the way, supporting Samantha and Malcolm to build confidence, practise independence, and actively participate in each stage of the cooking process.
Cooking activities such as this also promote social interaction and communication, creating opportunities for positive relationships and shared experiences in a relaxed and supportive environment. The festive menu added an extra layer of enjoyment and motivation, making learning both engaging and meaningful.
We are proud to support experiences that reflect the NDIS principles of choice, control, and participant-led support, empowering individuals to develop skills, build confidence, and take pride in their achievements.
Please enjoy the photos from the day, which capture the teamwork, engagement, and smiles shared throughout this festive and goal-focused cooking session.
